To promote the amenities of living in the Fort Wayne area, even in the winter, the City of Fort Wayne hosted the fourth annual Weather the Fort party/festival downtown Saturday evening.
Sponsors included Design Collaborative, A Party Apart, TNT Sound, Aalco Distributing, Votaw Electric, Shigs and Pit, Bravas, Hetty Arts Pastries, Conjure Coffee, Diageo, Pedal City, City’s Pure Ice, Blue Crow Entertainment, Will Certain, Hubie Ashcraft Band, Casual Friday, Apollo Design and Hollister Pyrotechnics.
Setting up the lighting is interesting as the party/festival begins before dark, and the lighting equipment (including projected gobos) must be in place prior to doors opening.
With an expected crowd of a few thousand the Fort Wayne Police Dept sent several of their best, who had no issues with taking a selfie with yours truly! (These guys rock!)
Ice carvers, fire dancers, corn hole games, fireworks, live music and plenty of food and $4 beverages abounded at the event. Needless to say, beverages didn’t get warm while they played their games. Chilly? Mid 20s during the event. Brrr…
Perhaps the most interesting task in lighting this event is projecting the Weather the Fort logo on the 14th floor of the Anthony Wayne Bank Building from a vehicle on the roof of the neighboring parking garage! 😀
Apollo was paid to produce custom SuperResolution glass gobos, the rental of several Source Four fixtures, gasoline generator and a guy to set up and run the stuff.
I’ll send an invitation out to all Apollo employees and families to join next year’s event. Should be a fun one!
Read about the event in our local Fort Wayne newspaper the Journal Gazzette.
