John R. Dolphin, Lighting Designer and Owner of Candela, LLC, served on the production team for Beauty and the Beast at Whitefish Bay High School in Wisconsin. The show played in February of this year.

John used 2-Size B Apollo Custom Metal Gobos to create the image shown in the photo above, the beast profile, and the red rose.

For the profile, John chose an ETC 10 Degree Ellipsoidal with a donut and no gel. For the rose, he used a second ETC 10 Degree Ellipsoidal with a donut and red gel. Both fixtures were mounted at the back of the house with almost no tilt. Each fixture had an HPL-750-watt lamp. The image projected on a seamless dark blue Sharkstooth scrim, and a “blue halo” 65’ all blue 120V LED rope light separates the scrim from the cut portal.
